Hi! We're moving to Vancouver from Portland this winter-ish and I was hoping to get some mom's advice on good neighborhood schools for 13yr olds (seventh grade) He's very artistic and musical, a gentle soul I don't want to see get eaten alive!! I also have a soon to be 4 yr old (and a 9 month old) But I'm more worried about getting into a good neighborhood for the schools. My husband is working in Kitslano, but I can already tell that's way out of our league! But don't want him to have to commute too far. Any and all advice so very welcome! Thanks!!!! Winter’s here! Bundle up and get outside as a family to experience the winter activities your city has to offer. Grab the sleds and helmets and take a few runs down your local toboggan hill, snowshoe through the ravine, skate at one of the many indoor or outdoor rinks, ski within an hour of your home, or just enjoy a friendly snow ball fight in the backyard. Whatever activity you choose, your mind, your body, and your children will thank you. Here are a few great reviews from our Share Savvy members (and moms) for their favourite winter fun activities in and around the city.
• In North Vancouver, Grouse Mountain offers a little bit of winter magic for everyone. Only 15 minutes out of the city SavvyVan says that most of the activities are included in your pass.
• In Kerrisdale, Kerrisdale Cyclone Taylor Arena offers a wide range of skating programs for all ages and stages. twoatonce says that it is a great place to take your kids skating in the winter.
• If you are downtown, another favourite rink to check out is the covered open air Robson Square GE Plaza Ice Rink. twoatonce says the skating is free and you can rent equipment for a reasonable price.
• In North Vancouver, sign up for one of the Mount Seymour Baby & Me Snowshoe Series. SavvyVan says the guided shoe is, both great exercise and, a great time.
• In Dunbar, Chaldecott Water Park and Playground is home to some great tobogganing hills during the winter. LPulver says it’s sheer joy to kids of all ages.
