The Best Winter Fun

Winter’s here! Bundle up and get outside as a family to experience the winter activities your city has to offer. Grab the sleds and helmets and take a few runs down your local toboggan hill, snowshoe through the ravine, skate at one of the many indoor or outdoor rinks, ski within an hour of your home, or just enjoy a friendly snow ball fight in the backyard. Whatever activity you choose, your mind, your body, and your children will thank you. Here are a few great reviews from our Share Savvy members (and moms) for their favourite winter activities in and around the city.

• In Kanata, the man-made sledding hill at Walter Baker Park is a popular destination for local families. andrea suggests parking at the Kanata Recreation Complex.
• Another one of andrea’s favourite spots for tobogganing with kids of all ages is the toboggan hills at the Arboretum (Experimental Farm) . She recommends that all children wear helmets and parents accompany small children.
• In downtown Ottawa, take in the scenery, refreshments and activities offered along the world’s largest skating rink, The Rideau Canal Skateway. Victoria argues that it is the best place for kids to burn off some of that pent up energy!
