The Best Winter Fun

from the team at SavvyMom.ca

Happy-kids-sledding

Winter’s here! Bundle up and get outside as a family to experience all of the winter activities your city has to offer. Grab the sleds and helmets and take a few runs down your local toboggan hill, snowshoe through the ravine, skate at one of the many indoor or outdoor rinks, ski within an hour of your home, or just enjoy a friendly snow ball fight in the backyard. Whatever activity you choose, your mind, your body, and your children will thank you. Here are a few great reviews from our Share Savvy members (and moms) for their favourite winter fun activities in and around the city.

• On Queen’s Quay West, Harbourfront Natrel Rink is a wonderful outdoor rink that is open 7 days a week, offering skate rentals, change rooms, and skating lessons for kids, teens and adults. Free admission for open skate! Minnow argues it is the best rink in the city.
• In Markham, Cedar Grove Cedarena, is a lovely, well-established outdoor rink (80 years or so) that is run by volunteers. After skating, warm up your toes and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate in their little log cabin. Minnow says it’s a hidden gem.
• In Oakville, go skating, tobogganing or cross-country skiing at beautiful Bronte Creek Conservation Area. OakvilleTracy claims that visiting this all-season oasis is like taking a step back in time.
• In Davisville Village, Hodgson Skating Rink is an outdoor rink that offers free public skating and shinny. Denise claims that the indoor change rooms and hot chocolate machine are a huge bonus.
• In Toronto, you’ll love the community atmosphere and great food at Dufferin Grove Park Rink, where they have two rinks, one for skating and one for shinny. smorge01 says that the skating rink is a special place to be!
